Helsinki on Broadway | Mostly Mercer
Sunday, October 27 2013 at 7:00 PM
Tony Award nominee and creator of “Pump Boys and Dinettes”, and long time Hudson resident Jim Wann, along brings a glorious evening of song to Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, October 27 at 7pm as part of Helsinki on Broadway series presented in association with Showstoppers New York.
Featured prominently in the evening are the songs of four time (nineteen nominations) Academy Award winning lyricist Johnny Mercer. “Blues in the Night”, “Days of Wine and Roses”, “Skylark”, “Accentuate the Positive” and “In the Cool Cool Cool of the Evening” are just a few of the tunes you’ll hear from Jim Wann and Co., as Jim shares stories and insights about Mr. Mercer’s unique lyric style as he sets up his Southern-flavored renditions of these American Songbook classics, with Broadway's Leenya Rideout on fiddle and MAC Award Winner Ritt Hennon bass.
In addition to “Pump Boys…” Jim Wann has frequently been at center stage in his shows both on and off Broadway as well as concert halls throughout the country. “Mostly Mercer” promises to be, in Johnny’s own words, a Helsinki on Broadway Night “Too Marvelous for Words!”
“Mr. Wann has a way with a song, a guitar and everything else” -- The New York Times
“Fresh and unfettered, evanescent and evocative, Jim’s rendition of ‘Moon River’ will send you ’round the bend–of delight.” -- Atlanta-Journal Constitution
