Paperboy To Debut March 2023
PAPERBOY, A New Musical, will be given a full production in Neidorff-Karpati Hall at the Manhattan School Of Music on New York City’s Upper West Side, for four performances March 24-26, 2023.
Directed by Don Stephenson with Choreography by Liza Gennaro, PAPERBOY is created by Emily Loesser and Don Stephenson with Vince Vawter (Book), and Jim Wann and David Shenton (Music, Lyrics, Orchestrations), adapted from the bestselling novel by Vince Vawter.
The entire show (Cast of 16) and orchestra (16-piece) will be made up of students at MSM. Additional staff includes Amanda Kate Joshi, Associate Director; Myles Plant, Music Director; Jake Cannon, Assistant Music Director. Designers: Michael Schweikardt, Set; Shawn Kaufman, Lighting; Fan Zhang, Costumes; and Shawn Duan, Projections.
Neidorff-Karpati Hall is the School’s main performance stage, which was renovated and reopened in Fall 2018. Originally built in 1931, it is a gem of Art Deco style and seats 626. For PAPERBOY, the orchestra will be in the pit. There will be a unit set, flexible to accomodate scenes in homes, the neighborhood, and public spaces that figure in the story. Sound and Lighting design along with Projections and Costumes will enhance the ambience and storytelling.
